On this part, you are right - teachers are extremely prone to catch
colds and other related contagious illnesses.

education work in different parts of the UK, and come into contact with
thousands of school pupils every year, but I don't get many colds, or

It's not stress. Teachers are simply exposed to more germs for a
longer period, thus they are more likely to ingest an infectious dose.
