I think it's fair to wonder whether they represent a self-selected group of
west-leaning people who are more comfortable with the internet and writing
in English.

However logic is against you. It makes perfect sense that in general a
population that's been oppressed for so long is happier when they're freed,
especially when it's abundantly clear that the reins of power will be given
them soon.

I don't disagree with that, nor do I disagree that Iraq is better off
without Saddam in the long run (even if things are pretty miserable at the
moment, and some potential exists to fall into a worse situation).

I just find the notion of some random weblogs as proof of anything to be
silly.
