Default info needed campervan NZ in August

On 3 May 2006 18:10:09 -0700, "patty"
magnanimously proffered:

Being a resident of Florida, I fully understand the points about
tourists, we refer to them affectionately (or not) as turons. My
husband is a German native and in Germany they are obsessive about
drivers rights (and moving over). I understand the point of invasion by
tourists. It can be a love/hate relationship. There has always (from
the US perspactive) a facination with NZ ands I expect the popularity
with the Lord of the Rings has really increased the activity.

We will be respectful tourists, I promise. At this point we are leaning
towards a car... I really appreciate all the comments, we will have to
decide soon.

About the travel time, fortunately we will spend a week in Sydney
first. I will be attending a Congress, and my husband being leisurely,
life is not always fair. We should be OK in terms of time.

In my study I am currently facinated with the fiordlands.
Later, Patty

Good on ya for such a dignified and balanced response. AFAIC you're
welcome in our local area any time, but that's a LONG way from
Fiordland. You'll love it down there.

Default info needed campervan NZ in August

Hello again.
I received so much helpful information on my initial post, I am
throwing out another one. On the South Island we want to do a day of
skiing and spend another day touring Milford or Doubtful Sound. We will
then be flying out of Queenstown to Auckland. Do the boats go to
Doubtful Sound during August? I also have heard the plane from
Queensland to Milford sound is great but $$$. Our priority in skiing
for me, a long comfortable trail, for my husband some more challenging
(but not crazy fun). We want stunning scenery. Wanaka has been
suggested to us. So, my question... any suggestions on how to maximize
these two activities?? Is a night in Queensland itself something not to
miss? Or, should we think about somewhere else, Te Anau? BTW, we are
renting a car, no campervan any longer.
Patty
