Default Weather in OZ & NZ

I just found this NG but I am sure this question gets asked all the
time. Maybe someone could post it "one more time"!

We will be coming to OZ/NZ in January and from all that I've read in the
weather sites, we can expect it to be quite warm (80* F+) in OZ and a
bit cooler in NZ. However, info sent from the touring company says to
expect temperatures in the 66*F range and lower at night.

Thanks in advance for the info.

look at www.weather.com and look at the historic data for AUS and NZ and
you'll see what to expect ... it won't be nearly as warm as FL in NZ thats
for sure

It will depend much on exactly where in Oz you will be - north, south, on the
coast or inland?
Australia in distance north to south is equivalent to the distance and latitude
from Costa Rica to southern Canada so temperatures can vary tremendously ( eg
snow in January is rare but not unknown in southern mountain areas). Also
remember that January is the wet season in northern Oz, so it will be very humid
as well as high temperatures in those parts.

This Australian Bureau of Meteorology site will give you climate averages for
various locations throughout Oz: just click on the map for those areas you will
be visiting -

where are you going to be in Oz? it's a big country. If you're south,
i.e., Melbourne and Adelaide, expect high 90's (40+C) Sydney is a bit
cooler, maybe the 80's (35+C). Further north toward Brisbane and the Gold
Coast, hot and humid - BTW, since your name is Florida Girl, there is a
"Miami Beach" in Queensland outsde of Surfer's Paradise :-) I have a gas
(petrol) receipt from a trip in 1999.

Regards,

jeff (in Dallas)

I would not recommend that an American visit Miami Beach on the Gold Coast
for examples of crass commercialisation (although it is very bad). The USA
already has the best of this in the world.
