Flight 55, ATL-NRT. Returns as flight 56, then service switches to a 777.

Isn't FedEx snatching up all the MD-11s it can find these days ?

Aeroflots Freight division seems to be interested on these, too.

Maybe FedEx crashes enough DC-10/MD-10/MD-11s that they could use some
replacements.

IIRC, FedEx has had 4 hull losses in the past 7 years, not including their
Cessna losses. Not all were 10s or 11s, but at least the Newark flip and
recent Memphis burn-out were. I doubt they could survive as a passenger
airline with that record.

Why would they want to get rid of the MD-11? At about 8,300 miles, it
is one of the longest range aircraft in service now.

EWR flip (quite similiar to the China Airlines / Mandarian Airlines MD-11
that flipped)
MEM burn-out
Tallahassee - 727 down short of runway

What was the fourth one? The one in Tallahassee was earlier this year as
well, wasn't it?

You forgot the MD-11 that overshot the runway and landed in the bay.

Probably for the same reason I'm not buying a Crown Victoria. Good car, but
ancient technologically.

"THE ARMY THAT CAN DEFEAT TERRORISM doesn't wear uniforms, or drive Humvees,
or call in airstrikes. It doesn't have a high command, or high security,
or a high budget. The army that can defeat terrorism does battle quietly,
clearing minefields and vaccinating children. It undermines military
dictatorships and military lobbyists. It subverts sweatshops and special
interests. Where people feel powerless, it helps them organize for change,
and where people are powerful, it reminds them of their responsibility." --
