Default Who stays the longest in the Serengeti ?

Hi,

I'm planning on spending 4-6 weeks in Kenya, Tanzania (excluding
Zanzibar) and hopefully Botswana. I plan on doing as much wildlife
viewing as possible and I'm checking for non-lodge packages.

I'm presently looking at different safari providers but they all seem
to stay only one or two nights in the Serengeti. Do you know any
provider that spends more time in this park ?

I've done a 13 weeks Africa overland a few years ago but there was too
much driving, too much drinking and not enough game viewing to my
taste. I'm trying to find a way to spend as much time in parks as
possible.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Thanks a lot,

Louie

If you've got one or more travelling companions, you will easily be
able to find a company which does tailor-mades, whether lodge or
non-lodge. However, if you're on your own, this will be prohibitively
expensive. Tell me about it :-(

The 'set' itineraries tend to be 'one night, two night' deals. I spent
six nights in Serengeti a few years back, three nights at Lobo and
three at Seronera so that I minimised daily travelling but got to see
a lot of the reserve. You could presumably do the same with campsites.

Every ground operator I'm aware of will let you spend as many nights
as you wish in the Serengeti if you book a custom trip, which is often
little or no more expensive than going on the pre-packaged trips.

I spent seven nights in the central Serengeti last year and recently
spent seven more nights in the middle of the migration in late January
at the Serengeti/NCA border.

All you have to do is ask (and be able to pay for it .

Thank you Liz and Bill.

Any specific company I should check for ? I'm going to start trying
to find a few interested people. I'm in the Bay Area in California.
Anybody interested in a tailored Kenya / Tanzania and eventually
Botswana safari ?

:-)

Hello,

I spent many days in and around the the Serengeti, probably the best
thing to do if you want to make it more economical is to find some
travel mates. If you are not to worried about costs, you still don't
have to spend a fortune. All you have to do is either go to Arusha and
find a travel agent there or look on the internet for one. You can
also just look around and hire a vehicle in Arusha. You can usually
get a vehicle/driver/cook and spend as many days as you want.

Email Darryl at, and ask him to organize you a
safari. He used to be in the Safari business and still helps people
out. Tell him that John told you about him.

Love to, but unless I read you wrong, you're doing 'rough camping', so
I'll pass ...

Liz,

I dont do rough camping !! Hehe, far from Rough...

You can go over $700 a day. White gloves and air conditioned tents.

But you do what you think right, it is always the best thing !

Here are three low-to-mid range (price) ground operators in Arusha
that book custom trips ... Good Earth, Roy Safaris, Sunny Safaris ...
there are literally dozens more but these three are a good place to
start.

You can also go thru a travel agent and they will book you with the
ground operator they use but it's often less expensive if you book
direct.
