Default IDP

Hi Guys !!

Thanks for all the info.

Avis says Thai drivers license okay no need for IDP. Must be 25 or over and
enough room on the credit card.

Budget says the same

Hertz - awaiting reply.

Planning on driving from west to east coast around April 15, 2005. Drive by
day and sleep at night. Any suggestions for the best scenic route?

check with Legal authorities for an opinion on the validity of the DL.
Avis et al never seem to require the IDL even in countries with specific
laws requiring it. Valid drivers license is the key.

Usually rental companies don't bother with IDPs. The local cops, if
they stop you, may have a different attitude.

Ok for Budget and Hertz, but if you have dealings with the police they may not
accept it. If you do get an IDP it should be from Thailand, not California.

Without knowing the end points on your trip, it is impossible to suggest
a route. Both coasts of the United States are at least 3,000 miles long
so you need to be specific if you want help planning an itinerary.

Hi !!

Re-IDP Hertz directed me to their web site. Needless to say I'll be booking
with Avis.
