Default Emergency trip th Perth -- minimum time req'd to arrange passport.

Can someone please answer this one asap.

My brother in law has just been diagnosed with the big C and he's in Perth.
His mother is in Manchester and hasn't visited Oz since 97 and as such her
passport has expired. I would like to know whether its technically possible
to jump in the car and go to Liverpool and get a new passport sorted out
same day.

please revert

thanks in advance

You really need to call the office that issues passports in your area
to see if that is possible. Don't forget you will also need to arrange
a visa to travel into Australia, so be sure to get this when you book
the airline ticket, Either the travel agent or the airline can do this
for you.

Yes, but they won't do that without a valid passport number.

We live in the USA and have many relatives in Australia -- our passports and
visas are always up-to-date, for the very reason the OP wrote about.
