Default Easyjet to be taken over ?

Iceland firms linked to Easyjet
Shares in low-cost airline Easyjet have jumped 18% on speculation that one
of three Icelandic carriers may be considering a takeover attempt.
While Easyjet has declined to comment, rumours suggest either Air Atlanta
Icelandic, Icelandair or Iceland Express may be looking at the UK firm.

Iceland Express said it is not interested in Easyjet but the other two were
not available for comment.

Rival Ryanair has strongly denied that it is considering a takeover attempt.

"Hell will freeze over first," said a Ryanair spokeswoman.

Rival's denial

"The bid rumours are certainly doing the rounds," said one London trader.

"You'd be silly not to listen to them, but also silly to put too much into
them."

Easyjet's shares were up 18% at 155p in late trading n London.

Easyjet recently reported a 25% rise in passengers during September, with
numbers rising to 2.3 million in September, up 25% from 1.8 million in the
same month last year.
