Renting a Satellite Phone for Botswana travel?

Hi,
A friend who will be travelling in Botswana wants to rent a satellite
phone for the trip. Does anyone know if there is a reputable place to
rent these (for 2 weeks) in either Johnannesburg or Gaborone? Any
comments on the best network? Or is it better to rent before leaving
the U.S.? (Phone will be used only for voice communications in the
event of a business-emergency. Hopefully will never get used...)

I know Gaborone has cell phone service, but I am assuming that the
parks and reserves in the northern part of Botswana require a sat
phone.
