Routes into Malawi
Does anybody know if the road into Malawi from Mozambique through Caia
and over the Zambezi is passable that goes into Malawi on it's most southerly border. Is there a working border post between Malawi and Mozambique. I would also like to know if there are any camps etc on the Zambezi in that area. |

Routes into Malawi
Yes, the route is passable. It's a long drive though ;-)
The ferry across the Zambezi at Caia runs during daylight hours only. The bridge across the Zambezi at Tete is in good condition, and there is a border post between Malawi and Mozambique on that route. There's plenty of camping in Malawi along the lake. Monkey Bay at the southern part of the lake is very popular. Camping in Mozambique is less plentiful, but there are a few spots along the Zambezi.
