Flying from manchester (UK) to Sydney start of next year, but want to have a 3
day stop over somewhere in asia. Where would anyone recommend for the best city
to spend a few days in for someone whose never been outside europe before?

Bangkok's sure to wake you up.

Singapore's the easiest.

KL's somewhere in the middle.

Bali's great but you'll be overdosed on Australians before you even make it
to Sydney.

Bangkok has everything you could want or abhor - as the case may be!! And
it's fun!

Kuala Lumpur is interesting, but unexciting!

Singapore is deadly dull, but provides a sanitised mini Asia experience!!!

Excellent summary.

My vote: Bangkok.

Interesting, exciting, accessible, cheap, and still very Asian.

Singapore is a good intro to Asia - very clean but lots of Asian culture.
Bangkok is my tip - fascinating and all there. If you have the chance to
stop somewhere on the way back do Singapore on the way out and Bangkok on
the way back.

Every now and then someone appears in to tell Singapore being dull and
sterile.

Only in southern beaches.

Bangkok, Kathmandu, or Hanoi.

Singapore and KL are boring. Hong Kong and Tokyo have a lot to offer,
but you need more than 3 days to get beyond their surface.

I figured he wasn't going to make it too far on a 3-day stop...
