monday... Nice miniture documentry on their converion process in this Friday's transmission... Places I least expected to see this programme -- Southland TV (Invercargill, NZ) -- Taranaki TV (New Plymouth, NZ) + Nightly Buissness Report -- SBS NET Australia (Nationwide) Points that were totally neglected: ASTC-E, the error correction fix for ASTC; PBS will clearly be helped by this ABC, SBS's Digital converion (as a comparason) -- many newscasts in Widescreen |

A good start for info on the web is: http://www.abc.net.au/rn/mission.htm It is one of the largest public broadcasting networks in Australia, is available on free to air broadcast T.V. and radio in most areas of australia. Provides a lot of programs to the short wave service of Radio Australia. A wide range of interesting programs, documentaries, etc. Also broadcasts over various A.M. & F.M. frequencies, providing pretty good coverage all around the country. Home page on the net is http://www.abc.net.au/rn/ Page gives links to more info, but if want to go direct to AM/FM radio stations by state directly http://www.abc.net.au/rn/freq/ Cheers, Kangaroo16 Posting from rec.travel.australia+nz Local time 5:18 PM Saturday, 15 Dec. |

Which of the three are you referring to? I'm posting from rec.travel.australia+nz. Cheers, Kangaroo16 Posting from rec.travel.australia+nz Local time 5:18 PM Saturday, 15 Dec. kangaroo16a with a valid email address not to be confused with an American who calls himself an Australian with an invalid email address Kangaroo16a, you really should strive to post accurate information, assuming that you are even capable of doing so. I have never identified myself as an "Australian", I'm an American resident here. Are you implying that I am a liar? Then feel free to quote any of my posts where I claimed to be a "citizen". At the very least, you seem to jump to unwarranted conclusions. Admittedly, I don't bother to reply to most of your posts, simply because I'm not motivated to communicate with those who seem to be unable or unwilling to interpret my posts. Perhaps you should consider enrolling in a course in basic English, or, on a more advanced level, "basic logic" or "general semantics". For a start, check: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_semantics Of course, presuming that you are capable of reading with understanding, you might consider borrowing or buying a copy of Language in Thought and Action: Fifth Edition (Paperback) by S. I. Hayakawa (Author), S.I. Hayakawa (Author) http://www.amazon.com/Language-Thoug.../dp/0156482401 From a psychological and social point of view, you seem to be rather obsessed over the issue of a "valid email address". My I.S.P. [Internet Service Provider] advises against providing either an identity or a valid usenet address on usenet groups. It just increases the load of useless "spam". Some people have a valid address for me, but why should I provide it to you or others? I cannot conceive of any reason why I would want to write you a "personal" email post. After all, what "secrets" would we have that couldn't be handled in a usenet post? If you want to consult a "priest", "protestant minister", "rabbi", etc. I'm not any of these. If you have a problem in communicating with others, "Usenet" is one of the best ways to do it, IMHO. If you cannot seek help locally, you and I probably wouldn't get along well enough to achieve anything. Check the meanings of "positive transference" and "negative transference" if you wish. How much do you actually know about psychology? Or basic English for that matter? Can you define the definition between "egoist" and "egotist"? Anyway, feel free to criticise all you want. Some readers will know the difference between the words. Have a search for this German phrase if you wish. " Der Teufel ist ein Egoist und tut nicht leicht um Gottes willen..." I would roughly translate it as "The Devil is an egoist and cares but little for the will of God..." However, you may not care. Anyway, have a nice holiday. Perhaps you may even know that "Christmas" doesn't celebrate the birth of Christ, but probably not. This might be expecting too much from you. Have a nice holiday, anyway. Cheers, Kangaroo16 |

Which of the three are you referring to? I'm posting from rec.travel.australia+nz. No, you are posting 'to' rec.travel.australia+nz. It is not your own personal site! I would have thought by now with your great what it is, some 10 years of being involved with Usenet, you knew how to do a track on who is posting to what but it appears you are such a newbie you were unable to hence your confusion. Pot, kettle, black! Try it yourself! What I posted was accurate. Just you had a problem of not being able to establish facts for yourself! I have never identified myself as an "Australian", I'm an American resident here. So you immigrated in your words, in the 60's, to Australia and have never taken out Australian citizenship? And your reason/s for not doing so? Let me have a guess: 1] Are you implying that I am a liar? Then feel free to quote any of my posts where I claimed to be a "citizen". Touchy, touchy! This is not the first time someone has caught you out and you have jumped back screaming 'implying that I am a liar'. What a funny person you are! You tend to forget to remember what you write so when it comes around and bites you on the bum, your first reaction is to accuse someone of implying that you are a liar. At the very least, you seem to jump to unwarranted conclusions. No, I have never jumped to any unwarranted conclusions unlike yourself who has either insinuated or accused posters of possibly suffering from mental disorders. [Obsessive/compulsive - 15 posts to date, for starters]. Who uses the word psychological or variations thereof on a regular basis [13]. Admittedly, I don't bother to reply to most of your posts, simply because I'm not motivated to communicate with those who seem to be unable or unwilling to interpret my posts. Since when has one been required to 'interpret' another's posts? If you are unable to post without the need to be interpreted, then perhaps you should not be posting on any newsgroup at all! Readers should be able to read what is in front of them period. Why do you feel the need to post in a manner that needs to be interpreted? And why? Perhaps you should consider enrolling in a course in basic English, or, on a more advanced level, "basic logic" or "general semantics". For a start, check:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_semantics Where would you be without wikipedia! More like, what did you do before wikipedia for resources? Of course, presuming that you are capable of reading with understanding, you might consider borrowing or buying a copy of Language in Thought and Action: Fifth Edition (Paperback) by S. I. Hayakawa (Author), S.I. Hayakawa (Author) http://www.amazon.com/Language-Thoug.../dp/0156482401 From a psychological and social point of view, you seem to be rather obsessed over the issue of a "valid email address". No, just getting the facts straight after an earlier posting you made in response to one of mine. Just ensuring people do realise and understand that my postings are not yours. Why do you suggest that I have an obsession. You are the only one with any obsession! My I.S.P. [Internet Service Provider] advises against providing either an identity or a valid usenet address on usenet groups. Would you kindly post the url to the AUP/TOS page of your ISP which clearly states they advise against using an identity or valid email address on Usenet? [I won't hold my breath waiting]. It just increases the load of useless "spam". Some people have a valid address for me, but why should I provide it to you or others? If someone wanted to make you an offer to write an article or an on- going series, you are missing out. Have you ever thought of that? And there 'are' ways and means of controlling your email address/spam. You have heard about those have you not? I cannot conceive of any reason why I would want to write you a "personal" email post. After all, what "secrets" would we have that couldn't be handled in a usenet post? ??? What a funny man you are to write that.. If you want to consult a "priest", "protestant minister", "rabbi", etc. I'm not any of these. Thankfully [sigh]. If you have a problem in communicating with others, "Usenet" is one of the best ways to do it, IMHO. Your IMHO counts for nada here. You have shown a distinct trait in your personality that you are unable to communicate with others particularly on Usenet. If you cannot seek help locally, you and I probably wouldn't get along well enough to achieve anything. Here you go again! Must add that one to the list. Check the meanings of "positive transference" and "negative transference" if you wish. How much do you actually know about psychology? And your professional qualifications in this field are? If you are indeed involved in this or related fields, then you should not have a problem stating your qualifications. Or is it that you are a long term patient yourself? Note: this newsgroup is not about attempting to assess if a poster has any mental disorder. Though it would appear from your postings, you have taken it upon yourself, to do so. This if you are a professional, is a gross violation of ethics as well as The Hippocratic Oath et al, you would have taken [depending on what branch of the profession you are/have been engaged in]. Or basic English for that matter? Can you define the definition between "egoist" and "egotist"? Anyway, feel free to criticise all you want. Some readers will know the difference between the words. Have a search for this German phrase if you wish. " Der Teufel ist ein Egoist und tut nicht leicht um Gottes willen..." I would roughly translate it as "The Devil is an egoist and cares but little for the will of God..." Now would you like me to post urls to many medical volumes/references that would be helpful in pinpointing your personality disorder? But then again, I am sure your medical professional team has been able to, to the best of their ability, attempted to make you understand your problem. However, you may not care. Anyway, have a nice holiday. Perhaps you may even know that "Christmas" doesn't celebrate the birth of Christ, but probably not. This might be expecting too much from you. For a Christian, you sure do love to waffle don't you! Have a nice holiday, anyway. Too bad it's a step BACKWARD here in the Boston Area. WGBH broadcasts Newshour on its 480i SD Channel 2.1. Channel 2.2 is HD and gets the PBS HD feed. The program is letterboxed between two vertical bars. In the old SD format at least I could fill the screen albeit creating fat talking heads. -- Rick Evans --------------------------------------------------------------- Lon -71° 04' 35.3" Lat +42° 11' 06.7" |
