Couple more questions... HAL's new tipping policy.
The automatic charge that is added to your onboard account covers everyone.
As long as you agree to that you are then free to tip anyone else who you deem deserving. -- DG in Cherry Hill, NJ "Sylvia M." wrote in message ... But what is done in Lido? Or when hamburgers are served, is it on deck, or at Johnnie Rockets? ISTM I would want to tip, but at the time (carry cash?) or at end? 'Tis a puzzlement!" Sylvia |

Couple more questions... HAL's new tipping policy - Here's How...
Don't understand why you think I "shelled out" more than I thought. I knew
I was tipping $10 pp perday automatically. The little extra I handed some of the crew who I thought deserved a bit more was no more than I have tipped totally on past cruises. I didn't feel any guilt, nor base my tips on guilt feelings. Had the service not lived up to my expectations, I wouldn't have hesitated to adjust downward the "automatic" charges. I tipped exactly what I've done on past cruises, when you add the $10 per day and the extra I wanted to give. So, I've not changed my habits one iota. You're correct, I feel good about rewarding people who've served me well. And, I'm not ashamed of that feeling. Do you not tip on your cruises because you believe the cruise lines should be paying more wages? You're wrote in message ... Rest assured, Al, you're shelling out considerably more than you think.... ...I see those TV ads: help the needy kids in 3rd. world countries, aren't the only ones who can utilize guilt tactics to the fullest. You're living proof of that. Just what HAL wants. You supplement the crew's wages, that they are required to pay, but they've twisted the method around so you actually feel good about it. ...Jon |

Couple more questions... HAL's new tipping policy - Here'sHow...
Al... Every previous post that I have read from 7-10 day HAL cruisers
has implied they basically tipped about the same amount: 50 bucks Steward; 50 bucks Waiter; plus a few 20s here and there. ...So someone jumps from this rate (for 2) to 200 bucks per couple -- 10 day cruise; plus perhaps 100 bucks (bare minimum) for the new drink tip policy. ...So you're telling me that for a ten day cruise you've "previously" tipped 4 or 5 hundred bucks (including the extras you now give)?? ....I think not. ---But unless my math is incorrect, that's what you'll be tipping from now on. ...Jon |

Jon, where are you getting the *new drink policy*? The 15% tip is automatically added on to your bar slip each time you order a drink as it has always been done on all ships...The rest is $10. pp per day... which is put on your shipboard account automatically....If you wish to reward anyone for exceptional service, you determine that amount-- which they may keep as long as you keep automatic tipping on your shipboard account. --Jean |
