Here's one for you creative types.
I want to cruise in 3011 from Los Angeles / San Diego to Australia / New
Zealand and then return without spending lots of time in an Airplane
(Medical problems with cramped seats).
Any suggestions?
How about a freighter one way and a cruise ship the other? Anybody ever
done it?
Cheers,
John in LALALand (On the Left Coast)

The solution to cramped seats is to fly business or first class. A
problem I would see with a freighter is the amount of time. And they
might not keep a tight schedule. You might want to look into segments
of a World Cruise. You might be able to get from LA to Australia that
way.

Gidday..

Ya gotta first go North before ya go West !!

Unless your timing of another cruise San Diego to Hawaii can co-ordinate
catching this one for the second "leg" to Sydney.

Royal Caribbean Rhapsody of the Seas repositions from Vancouver/Seattle to
Australia via Hawaii and Tahiti in October each year and returns for the
Alaska cruise season in April. -- 10 days + 16 days

Big Kev.

I know that Sydney - LA is easily done on Regents. We disembarked the
Mariner in Auckland on Dec 3rd and her next segment was a 17 day run to
LA with a couple of island stops en route, Tahiti and some other place I
don't remember right now. Getting to Sydney without flying could be
another story, however.

We flew Qantas business class and found it to be spacious and
comfortable. The seats recline to not quite horizontal and make decent
beds, good enough to get a few hours sleep during the 14 hour flight.
There is also adequate walking around room in the business section for
stretching your legs. If you take the business class option, at least
with Regents, the cost is much less than if you booked business class
direct with Qantas.
