Laos Embassy Washington Visa Passport -- How long?
I sent my passpost to the Laos Embassy in Washington requesting a
visitor's one month visa. It's been a few weeks and I haven't heard anything from them. What are people's experience with sending there passports to the Embassy. What sort of turn-around time have readers here experienced? What's the normal expected time. Is there an email address where I could make enquiries about it? It's my passport and I will need it if I want to travel in Indochina, and I am leaving soon, so I am getting a bit dicy about this. I am not a Laotian. Thanks for any help. Proclus |

You my be on THANOUXAY's black list, then you cannot go to Laos. Are
you sure you have not said anything against this commie regime? -cm Proclus wrote: I sent my passpost to the Laos Embassy in Washington requesting a visitor's one month visa. Dear Proclus,
The 30 days visa process via Laos Embassy in DC usually takes 4 to 6 weeks. If you want them to process your visa faster, you will have to call them up and tell them that your flight to Vientiane is in two weeks, whatnot and that you need your visa approved or at least mail your passport back to you soon. If you don't call, they assume you are not in hurry and you know how Lao easy going attitude works... Nowadays, well, at least most of my friends who went or planing to visit Laos go for the 15 days arrival visa that issue at the ports of entry. It is much easier to obtian and you can easily extend it for another 15 days or beyond. here is the embassy phone: 1.202.332.6416 Good luck Phainam Proclus wrote: I sent my passpost to the Laos Embassy in Washington requesting a visitor's one month visa. Proclus,
You need not to send your Passport to Lao Embassy in DC, you can just travel to Thailand and then get a VISA at the border in NongKhai or in Bangkok is quicker. Neohmong |

The last time I entered Laos, I went straight to Vientiane and applied
right onland. It took less than an hour before I got approved. But I got approved nonetheless. Proclus, If you had put a two-way overnight mail envelope with your application, perhaps you would have had your passport by now. I think they are flooded with two many requests and it will take a little time before you are approved. Hmoob1 |
