Ocean City is great for families. We spent a lot of time there with our
kids when they were younger. Once they hit the teen years the
boardwalk was boring.

The boardwalk isn't very large but it's clean and for the most part
the teen groups are small and controlled.

The beaches are clean but require beach passes. Here are a couple of
websites that might interest you,

Locations where beach passes can be bought:

Atlantic City is very close, about 30 minutes, if you want some adult
time.

Wildwood is a a little farther, maybe an hour or less drive, but the
boardwalk is huge. You have to watch out for the groups on the
boardwalk in hte evenings so a day trip is better if you have younger
children.

Just to add: anytime I've rented an apartment in Ocean City, a beach
pass for the tenant was provided by the landlord.

Ocean City is very family oriented. The beach pass revenue keeps the
beaches staffed, cleaned and maintained even if they do go against the
principal of English common law and colonial patents that beaches are in
the public domain. Ocean City is also a dry town without a single bar,
liquor store, grocery store or restaurant with any type of license.
You'll notice one of the largest beverage stores you've ever seen just
before you cross either bridge into town.
