Default Travelocity Guarantee is a Crock!

Hi guys.

Not strictly cruise, but thought I'd share this with you.

I booked a hotel through Travelocity. Got there, and the place was
disgusting (smelled bad, didn't have the amenities promised).

Called Travelocity & was on the phone with a rep. in India for 40
minutes. Got the second night refunded, they told me to call back about
getting the first night refunded.

Called back, spent ANOTHER 40 minutes on the phone (again, India). Then
was told I needed to call them again when the manager of the hotel
might be in. I told them this was crap and they needed to just refund
the charge--even a supervisor was no help.

E-mailed support, told them the story. They e-mailed back saying a
supervisor would contact me. Never happened despite 4 follow-up e-mails
from me.

So, I just disputed the charge with my bank.

Though I've previously had good luck with Travelocity (and was even a
"preferred member" I'd warn you away from these lying reptiles.

What lies? Read their "guarantee." They merely guarantee to try to help.

Watch their TV ads. That's not what they imply.

Sounds like lies to me.

1. The hotel is the Econolodge in Dayton, Ohio.

2. I do have to say that the Indian reps. did speak flawless English
and were unfailingly polite. They just don't seem to understand the
ideas that a) Travelocity has more power than the hotel, and if
Travelocity says we're not paying you, the hotel has to say "Yes Sir";
and the idea that if a long-time customer is unhappy for a valid
reason, you make that customer happy without requiring repeated phone
calls. Not sure if this a cultural thing or just general corporate
stupidity. I have a feeling I would have gotten better results talking
to someone in Texas, but I will admit to not having any facts to back
that up...

3. As to the lies--technically, their "guarantee" isn't terribly
specific (I'll give you that one) , but they did tell me a supervisor
would call me and that never happened--so I stand by my "lying
reptiles" comment.

Lee:

If you're trying to say that I got what I deserved for booking at an
Econolodge in the first place, I think you have a point. (The gals at
the desk at the Crown Plaza certainly got a laugh out of it that
night).

However, in my defense, I should say that I've had good experiences at
other Econolodge's (one in Florida someplace--Cocoa Beach, I think) was
very nice and I've stayed there more than once.

The only amenity I really cared about on this trip was a computer I
could use to check e-mail online, and it was one I specifically called
the hotel and asked if they had it--they said "Yes".

Of course, if you consider air that doesn't stink an amenity....

Oh, and I have to add that when I asked for an ironing board, all they
had was a minature one with one broken leg--somehow, that's much
funnier right now than when I was at this dump...

Cheers!
