In article , William Black
says... Are you insane or just playing word games? No William. But it appears that you have been talking nosense, since you are unable to answer some simple questions. Insane then. And welcome to my killfile. -- Alfred Molon http://www.molon.de - Photos of Asia, Africa and Europe |

Your loss, possibly my gain... -- William Black I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Barbeques on fire by the chalets past the castle headland I watched the gift shops glitter in the darkness off the Newborough gate All these moments will be lost in time, like icecream on the beach Time for tea. |

What's even sadder is Westerners walkig around India, barefoot, bindied, and
clad in rags, trying to "look like the locals". Yeah, as if. Thing is, the locals don't have Daddy's AMEX card in their little backpack. My Indian friends say the locals actually feel sorry for these Westerners, as they look so poor. Bob "William Black" wrote in message ... wrote in message oups.com... If you have never been to the Third World before, chances are you will be overwhelmed by the poverty, heat, pollution and scams. India is a much more difficult destination for an inexperienced traveler than somewhere like Thailand or Morocco. I'm always astonished by Europeans in their twenties walking about India in dark coloured 'combat' shorts and a 'heavy metal' T-shirt, often seen carrying a huge back-pack, who seem amazed that the locals treat them as a sort of walking wallet. On the other hand if you make a small effort to speak a word or two of the local language and dress in a suitable/acceptable manner (and hire someone to carry your baggage) you'll find the locals are delighted and that their English improves beyond all measure. -- William Black I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Which is the original point I was making. And Indian people who work in service industries don't treat people they think are poor terribly well. -- William Black I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
