Waterholes canyon south of Page, AZ - status?

Hi,

Am gonna be in the Page area early Oct; just wondering if a quick hike
in Waterholes is still possible. I've seen it in various states of
open-ness, fee-edness, and close-dness over the years.

I was up there in the spring and the gate was open but there was a sign
requesting you check in with the Chapter House before going in, presumably to
pay a small fee. Probably just need to check when you drive up for the current
status, which as you indicate changes often.

I've been upstream from the road several times but for my money it's not nearly
as interesting as Antelope (which is now over-comercialized) or Buckskin Gulch
in the Paria - Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness area (about an hour drive from
Page). Worth a couple of hours but not worth paying too much just to get in.
