Pride of Hawaii (and some other NCL ships that cruise Hawaii) does not
have a Casino. Does anyone know why?
Also I have read somwhere that the additional charge restaurants on NCL
have any "early bird special? Is this still true?
Thanks

Because Hawaii does not allow the ships sailing their waters to have
casinos.

Because they are American ships sailing in American waters. Hence, no
casinos. In fact, when the Pride of Aloha was revamps for Hawaii sailing
from the Norwegian Sky, the Casino became an Cultural Center.

As for your question regarding "early bird specials" in the extra change
restaurants, at least when we were on the Pride of Aloha, we did not
encounter this option. However, things could have changed by now. Yet, on a
few other cruises with some other lines, they were offering a half-price
special if we dined on the day of boarding.

Yeah, but I thought it was "any ship sailing in Hawaiian waters"
aren't allowed to have a casino, not "American ships sailing in
American waters".

I believe you are correct. We sailed on the Norwegian Star in 2003
(when the cruise
included an absolutely wonderful, IMHO, stop at Fanning Island) and the
ship did not
have a casino.

Sue,

Even though the original question was the Price of Hawaii and other NCL
ships that cruise Hawaii, you are indeed correct. Thanks for supplying a bit
more detail to the definition of American waters and Hawaii. Since Hawaii is
a State, hence American waters, cruise lines sailing to and from this
destination from the main land, and that have Casinos, can indeed open them
in International Waters.

Hi John,

Does NCL America have another ship? The "Price of Hawaii"?

The fact that you, almost always, have spelling mistakes in your quotes
makes me wonder if maybe you are "Clint" in disguise. :-)

Admitted typo. Sorry about that. Naturally, should have been "Pride" and not
"Price."
