especially the Stockman department store, eating raindeer and the
saunas! (eventhough I was quite conscious in have to go in them nude

Thanks in advance!

Hong Kong and Bangkok would be the best (although I do not know KL.
Many Malaysians are moslems and hate the white man, so I only go to
Georgetown, Penang when I am in Malaysia).

In Bangkok, just stay around Banglamphu district (Khao San Road). Once
you find out how hard it is to get around in BKK, you will get tired of
it.

I am not a gourmet myself. I am a sort of fellow who picks up the closest
stand for a meal. It was easy to eat well in Singapore. This what about
everybody keeps saying. Typically Singapore is also considered expensive
which I find rather odd. True, pints at pubs and accommodation are not
cheap. Food and public transportation on the other hand are very decently
priced. Now someone comes and tells that in neighbouring Malaysia and
Indonesia these things are still cheaper... As I know many Singaporeans
actually cross the border for evening entertainment in Johore.

When it rains I would mind my steps on those tiled pavements. They are very
slippery when wet.

In article .com,
says...

I have been to Athens, and the pollution in Bangkok is much worse. The
air in Bangkok has a sweet smell from all the leaded gasoline. In some
cities you notice the pollution in the first five minutes after you get
off the plane and then it's fine. In Bangkok, you will constantly
notice it.

I never noticed that much pollution in Bangkok, actually I never
realised that Bangkok is a polluted place. Medan is very polluted, many
Chinese cities are very polluted. At least in Bangkok the air is
relatively clean.

Pollution - air pollution too - is something you cannot specificly grade by
visual observations..... However, Bangkok is VERY polluted. I wash my hair
every day when I am in town. Mexico city is also very polluted. This is sad
because the climate there is about perfect. Two years back when I was riding
by bus out from town to Oaxaca via Puebla I took a look back from mountains
down to the city. The air was clear and the vision was excellent and sharp
up there. However, I couldn't see the city because it was enveloped by thick
clouds of whatever **** of mostly combusted hydrocarbons.

we´re targetting the same cities since 2005, have
been to bk and singapore so far, this year we´ll make
it to kl.

what a specialist recommended to asia rookies was
going to very friendly places first to get used to asia.
she recommended bk and bali, which we did and
enjoyed it very much.

i can recommend bk very much, if one likes big and
hectic cities. spending half days at a pool of your
hotel will help you to relax. start tours of town early,
before it gets too hot an sweaty around noon.

singapore is much different, a greener & cleaner,
more highstreet (shopping) experience.

photos of travels at link below!

bye

Hi Steve, Thanks for your input. Quick questions if you were to name 3
things I should visit in Hong Kong what would they be?1. The Peak Tram

2. The Wong Tai Sin Temple
3. Shueng Wan's traditional craft shops

To those I'll add a ride on the Star Ferry and the Temple Street night
market.

Also can you name me a couple of good places to eat there?Red Pepper and Banana Leaf. For a good lunch option, there's a great

outdoor food court in Lan Kwai Fong.

Ugh ugh and ugh. You can't be in HK without having at least one dim sum
lunch.

I didn't like the Temple Street night market. It seemed like 99% of
the stalls sold either cheap crappy clothes, pirated
DVDs/handbags/watches, or porn!

As far as Hong Kong's markets go, the Graham Street market is the most
exciting, and the Jade Market makes a good photo op. There's a street
market in Macau that was even more interesting I thought (live
chickens, etc.) IIRC it's near the Museum of Macau.

What do you recommend, a floating restaurant, M at the Fringe, and
curry in the Chungking Mansions?

And definitely try "hot pot".
