Default Summit to Alaska - a "prison ship"

Just saw this in this morning's local paper the Seattle Times:

"Errant cruise raises hackles"
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...cruise13m.html

Passengers claim they are being held "captive"

This one you do wonder why they chose to skip Seattle instead of Ketchikan.
If there really are many disgruntled passengers, and they are offering to
let them off, it is much harder to get anywhere from Ketchikan than it is
from Seattle.

Cruise lines are going to have to come to grips with the fact that
passengers are not going to accept going on a cruise and then have the
cruise line tell them they're going to be missing ports because of a
mechanical problem that they've known about... and I don't care whether it's
Cunard, Carnival, Celebrity or whoever.

Sure there's a cruise contract, but it's not a negotiable contract. It's a
take it or leave it deal, that you have to accept if you want to go on the
vacation.

Hi Tom,

You are assuming the cruise line knew before they left. The way I
read the article the cruise line did not know until they left LA. I
don't know if the cruise line did in fact know or not.

Best regards,

You can always take your money elsewhere. Nobody is forcing you to
take a cruise (except your wife, perhaps). Everybody writes contracts
to their advantage. Check out the contract for an AI. They don't
even guarantee access to a beach, just a room and food.
