Ncl star...just returned mex riviera cruise..
NCL has won me over...food is great-really but there is a learning
curve and you do have to spend money but you can do it for free. Here
is how...if you make deposit for future cruise you get $100 credit to
use immediately which just about takes care of most cover charges...so
we made deposit and ate at
1. asian fusion...baby back ribs in great chinese sauce with choice of
noodle side, shrimp cigars made an excellent salad, lamb chops in
delicious soy type sauce and the great dessert of green tea, ginger
and red bean creme brulee...each came in separate dish...this was $30
cover for both of us...
2. endless summer...free margarita...chicken quesadilla-very tasy came
with guacamole...ribs for entree, delicious flan....$20
3. cagneys...oysters rockefeller...jumbo shrimp in jack daniel
sauce...portobello mushroom stuffed with blue crab...best clam chowder
i ever had, 10 ounce filet mignon...molten lava chocolate and kahlua
creme brulee...$40...
so there are three great meals that are hard to beat...

cruise director...baya...is a singer too and does great skit with his
co horts called 'fountains'

the weather was perfect in all ports...cabo was dreamlike, maz was
cool*great margaritas at terminal after we spent day with randi on
stone island-EATING GARLIC SHRIMP and pv was too good to be truie...a
lot of construction but we just got massages AT KRYSTAL and then
imbibed beer...

this cruise had refunded fuel surcharge so there is even more money to
buy martinis and wine...

our room was basic balcony but after rearranging chair and table we
had plenty of room and heard the ocean all night...the bee cone design
of balcony is very pleasing to eye and you are covered from others
looking at you...

we have cruised all the mass lines and we think ncl scores with all of
them...you get value for your dollar if you can learn how to cruise
FREESTYLE!...WILL POST PICS IN NEXT FEW DAYS...

Thank you for the trip report. Sounds like you figured out how to get
the most out of NCL.

If you know you are going to cruise again on a particular cruise line
the deposit for future cruises where you get an OBC credit are almost a
no brainer. I have done that a bunch of times in the past. Most of the
cruise lines have them. Right now I have them for Royal Caribbean,
Celebrity and Princess future cruises. The only concern I have is that
in todays economic climate that if any of these cruise lines go
bankrupt the deposits will go poof.

Charles, and everybody interested.

Just got home from the GGC200 on Celebrity Solstice. Made 2 Future
Cruises with them. On Celebrity you can purchase one on Royal and on
Royal for Celebrity. Up front, before I did any signing they made
sure that I knew that the $100 was non-refundable but there were no
time limits, you can hold it forever. (No 4 years and it's Void).
