books? info on RTW trips
There are quite a few on the web, actually.
I particularly liked http://www.travel-library.com/rtw/html/faq.html http://www.travelite.org/ http://www.artoftravel.com/ http://www.bootsnall.com/rtw/ http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/7272/travel.htm For travel arrangements: http://www.airhitch.org/info.htm#what http://www.oneworld.com/products/explorer.cfm http://www.star-alliance.com/star_al...e/main_10.html http://www.informationlab.com/rtw.htm http://www.roundtheworldflights.com/ In addition, you may want to take a look at these: http://www.rousmanieres.com/faq.html http://www.KirkandDonna.com/ http://theenchilada.tripod.com/ There are tons of others depending on what location you plan to visit, but those were some of my favorites. books? info on RTW trips
"Destiny" wrote in message ... Can anyone suggest some good books on planning round the world trips or any good websites?? It's not really a planning book, more of a collection of eye-opening literature, but it's great for revealing the "other" side of travel. The side you don't often hear about. It's called Bad Trips, edited by Keath Fraser, and published by Vintage Books, 1991. (ISBN 0-679-72908-9) With selections by 50 different writers, from David Mamet to Umberto Eco, Bob Geldof, John Updike, Graham Greene, J. M. Coetzee, and Wilfred Thesiger, it's an amazing compendium of what can go wrong on a trip. There are lessons to be learned about how to avoid certain pitfalls, and how (or how not) to deal with them when they arrive, but often its greatest value is is reassuring us that no matter how bad things may get, it can't be as bad as what some of these people went through. |
