Question about customs in Buenos Aires
I'm getting ready to book my first flight into Buenos Aires from Miami.
I'm hoping people who have been to BA can give me some advice on how much time I should allow for clearing customs before an onward flight. It seems most flights from Miami only allow me slightly less than 2 hours before I have to catch an onward domestic flight. I'm a little nervous this might not allow me enough time to get my bags, clear customs, and recheck my bags. I know in some airports I've been to, this wouldn't be near enough time, but I'm not sure with BA. I'm arriving on a Sunday morning in December. |

Hi there,
To where are you flying from Buenos Aires? I'm not sure I'll be much help to you, since Bs As has always been my final destination, but I can at least tell you about my experience with that. I can't recall it ever taking more than ten or fifteen minutes for me to clear customs in Bs As. Not sure how different your situation might be. Shaun wrote in message ups.com... The drive from Ezeiza to Aeroparque is about an hour. I would say about half
an hour to get your bags and clear customs. Assuming you to BA early in the morning. wrote in message ups.com... I'm getting ready to book my first flight into Buenos Aires from Miami. Hi Shaun,
I'll be flying to Ushuia (sorry about the spelling), in Tierra del Fuego. I note there are flights from EZE to Ushuia, as well as flights from a domestic airport. Obviously, if I can get the flight from EZE, it will be a lot easier not having to go to another airport for my departure. Dom Shaun Haines wrote: Hi there, To where are you flying from Buenos Aires? I hate to spoil your day, but I think that you may not have enough time to make your connection for two reasons: First: Each of the four times that I've been to Argentina, it took about an hour from deplaning to clearing customs and getting into a cab or other means of transport into the city. The trip into the city can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour or more; if you arrive on a Sunday, I assume there won't be much traffic. Second: Most domestic flights originate not from Ministro Pistarini airport (in the suburb of Ezeiza, thus the EZE code) but from the Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP), in the city itself on the bank of the Rio de la Plata. Check your tickets to see which airport codes are indicated; if you arrive at Ezeiza and leave from the aeroparque two hours later, I think you will have a difficult time making your connection. Good luck! |

John,
I've checked my tickets, and I do in fact depart from EZE to Ushuaia. That's great because that way I don't have to leave the airport. I've got 1 hour and 50 minutes to clear customs and make the connection, as long as my flight isn't late getting in, I'm going to have to assume it's enough time. Dom:
The flights to the south are probably some of the only internal flights from Ezeiza, so you'll probably do all right. Enjoy your visit! John wrote in message ups.com... Good luck! I was surprised by this. I didn't know of any domestic flights from EZE. |
