today that CARNIVAL is owned by P&O? Does that make sense?

Annie, you may have not heard correctly, or the person saying this was
incorrect...Carnival owns P&O.

Annie, that just describes Carnival as a company having cruise lines all
over the globe...then it goes on naming the twelve leading cruise brands
under the Carnival umbrella and P&O is one of them.. Notice in the heading
of that information that it says Carnival Corporation and PLC in the left
hand corner.. Above the red flag are listed all the cruise companies owned
by Carnival in light blue lettering. There is no Global Cruise Company as
such..it is just being used as an adjective describing Carnival.

Carnival CORPORATION is the parent company that owns Carnival Cruise Lines,
Costa Cruise Lines, Cunard, Princess, HAL, etc, etc.

Carnival Corp is the parent company. Carnival Cruise Lines is just one of
their "brands".

Technically, as Jean subtly points out, it's Carnival Corporation and
PLC. They pay dividends in dollars and pounds sterling, depending on
which exchange you bought your stock from.
