Default Harwich to Heathrow this summer

Our ship (Jewel of the Seas) rolls in to Harwich at 4AM, and we'd LOVE to
catch a 12:15PM non-stop flight home from Heathrow, but I'm afraid it's too
early. We're not planning on using cruise transfers, but as a reference
point, they recommend not booking anything earlier than 1PM when using their
service.

It would save us 9 hours of travel time (and about $75 each)...but of course
we don't want to miss the dang flight. How long does it take to get off the
ship and get to Heathrow? We want to take the train to Harwich on the way
out, but maybe a car service on the way back? Anyone done this? There's 4
of us, one bag a piece.

Trains depart Harwich 05:37 06:22 07:08 07:10 08:00

Harwich to London Liverpool Street takes just over an hour and a half.
Don't forget you will be arriving at Liverpool Street at peak hour and
it would take much longer than 10 minutes to get to Paddington

The Heathrow Express takes 15 minutes from Paddington, but there could
be a long walk at the other end, depending where you are leaving from.
Trains leave Paddington every 15 minutes.

I think you would be pushing it a bit doing it this way.

A transfer by car from Harwich to Heathrow will cost £159

You would have to email them to find out how long it would take.

It will be very, very close and the odds are that
you will in fact be delayed somewhere along the
route.
You will then be at Heathrow, having missed your
flight.
I would suggest looking at something leaving after
2 p.m. if at all possible. Much less stressful.
Of course the "best" idea would be to book into a
hotel at or near Heathrow and go the next day in
the morning. That way the stress factor would be
minimal all around, you could have a nice restful
breakfast on the ship, a relaxed trip to Heathrow,
and all the rest.
Have a great trip,
John in LALALand (On the Left Coast)
