Flight from Vancouver to LA
We are booked on RCCL Mexican Riviera cruise in July, including air
travel. I'm trying to find out when we might fly out of Vancouver - RCCL says we'll find out 60 days before cruise. Is there a "standard" flight from Vancouver to LA that RCCL uses? |

I was hoping someone who knows would answer my question - maybe someone who has had air travel arranged through RCCL from Vancouver to LA... If you don't know, feel free to ignore my question. It's not necessary to tell me that you don't know. |

Royal Caribbean uses various flights from Vancouver. Be aware, as John mentioned, they sometimes bus you to Seattle's airport. Did RCCL specifically say that you were going to fly out of Vancouver, or are you just assuming that? I think that what John is saying is that RCCL might put you on a bus from Vancouver to Seattle, then a plane from Seattle to LA. That's probably less expensive for them - it would have been less expensive for me the last time I checked. I didn't do it because my time is worth something to me, but your time probably isn't worth much to RCCL. |

That's probably less expensive for them - it would have been less expensive for me the last time I checked. I didn't do it because my time is worth something to me, but your time probably isn't worth much to RCCL. I requested air from Vancouver to LA. My confirmation invoice shows the departure airport as Vancouver Intl (YVR). But just to be really, really, sure I phoned RCI and asked the reservation clerk. She had no idea what I was talking about, and referred me to the Custom Air Department. He had never heard of such a thing either, and said if I have requested air from Vancouver, we will be flying out of Vancouver. Both clerks seemed to think I was crazy for even asking if there was a chance that we would be bussed from Vancouver to Seattle! So now I'm wondering if that has ever really happened to anyone. Call me naive, but it seems ridiculous that we would have to take a 4-hour bus ride from Vancouver to Seattle. When I booked our cruise, I compared airfare from Seattle to LA and from Vancouver to LA. It cost us more to fly out of Vancouver, but it's much more convenient. I would love to hear from someone who has actually had to do that. |

Is there a "standard" flight from Vancouver to LA that RCCL uses? There are many flights from Vancouver to southern California. That said I gather since you said RCCL and they depart Los Angeles on Sunday's that would mean either Air Canada or Alaska Air and expect to leave between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Now be warned that any flight that requires a transfer in SFO should be avoided as "Flow Control" has been a regular thing out of Vancouver and Seattle for months now for flights headed to SFO. Last time in January it was upwards of 3 hours ( 2 hours in Vancouver and another hour in SFO) Almost anyone in the airline industry here will tell you to avoid SFO at all cost if you want to be on time. Now note this is a Mexican Riviera Cruise NOT an Alaska Cruise. I have never seen a bus used for Mexican Riviera cruises. I have flown to southern California for cruises and never been bused to Seattle for a cruise. That only happens for Alaska Cruises.
