Japanese Consulate in Shanghai Suspending Visa Application by Individuals
On April 17, 2005, Japanese Consulate in Shanghai issued an emergency
notification that the consulate will no longer handle visa applications by individuals, after the demonstration on April 16. Chinese applying for Japan visa need to make use of approved travel agencies (service fees might apply). The notice also asks Japanese to contact the consulate on safety conditions before visiting.
