Hanoi - Airport transfer

Hello!

Would anybody tell me if I can buy taxi vouchers from taxi counters on
arrival at the airport in Hanoi? What is the best (and cheep) way of
getting from the airpost to the hotel in Hanoi?

yes you can buy a taxi voucher at the airport, I think it's about 20
bucks into town (about 45 minutes)

whatever you do, ignore the drivers and "taxi services" trawling the
airport floor for fares. They want to take you to some hotel that they
get a commission from and will do absolutely anything to keep from
taking you to the hotel you have booked or want to go to.

The official taxis purchased by voucher at the airport will take you
where you want, and if they try any stunts you can let them know that
you'll tell the tourist police. Vietnam's tourist police are strict
and the locals don't want trouble from them.

Has the system changed? When I was in Hanoi (2000-2005) you went to the
taxi booth outside the terminal, were given a card noting the taxi no.,
driver complaint no. (much like JFK), and paid the driver cash at the
end of the journey either in VND or USD. There were no vouchers.

1. buy taxi direct at NoiBai Airport, Price : 18 - 20 $
2. buy at hotel (you book room and transfer airport at hotel) : Price
25$ without guide
3. buy travel agent : 25$ without guide

I think that you can choice part 2 or 3,

No. 1 is the best choice. Surely it's not USD20 already. Was about
USD12 in 2005 - with Noi Bai Taxi.

There is also a minibus from the airport - even cheaper.

No real change. The concept of getting a card for an officially
sanctioned taxi, is what I'm referring to.

yeah, Minibus from the airport - is cheaper only 2-3 U$/person and fee
for lunguage if bring more but it drop at quang trung street. you must
take taxi again.

if you want it cheaper take the minibusses outside. i thought its 2 dollar
last month (maybe 3 but i didnt use it)
there is a lady with a walki talki on the taxi/mini bus platform, this one
is from vietnam airlines, they are ok. they drop you in the city at
southside Hoon Kiem Lake take a mototaxi their for max 1 dollar to your
hotel

another even cheaper option is the local bus, which i took. Walk outside the
airport, walk to the right side of the parkinglot, then u ll see some locals
waiting, thats where the local bus stops. to the center costs 3000 dong
(0,20)
