I believe the taxi rate is still fixed at €40 but you can get a car and driver to meet you at Arrivals for €40 & €45 which is the better option. I have used both companies in the past. www.romeshuttlelimousine.com/FiumicinoE.htm OR http://www.limoservicerome.com/Servi...nd%20rates.htm The Airport-Termini Train and then a taxi will likely be €35 ±. The Airport-Termini Train and then a taxi
will likely be €35 ±. I haven't checked the train price in a long time, it's now €14. You said "our hotel" so if 2 persons it would be €28, the taxi charges ~€1 per suitcase so it would be €40 at least, more if the driver takes the scenic route. With three fares on the train and bus, you will save very little over the cost of a taxi or van. And I don't know the bus routes very well, but as far as I know you won't find it easy to get from the train station to the Pantheon by bus. You'll end up doing some walking too. And the bus will be crowded (especially for you with your luggage) and waiting for the bus will take time. "Poetic Justice" wrote in message ... And informed the hotel you as well, that luggage in public transport (underground, busses) will be charged with a normal ticket for the suitcase? So, three persons on the train is around 45,00 EUR + 2 persons on the bus 3 EUR + 2 (?) suitcases makes 50 EUR. It seems that the hotel is in the area where a special taxi fare is charged and the fare is EUR 45,00 (but you have to lok that the taxi is a rome one, the taxi fare for the taxis from Fiumicino, which is the city where the airport of Rome is located, is higher. If you understand some german have a look he http://www.roma-antiqua.de/rom-reise...fiumicino#taxi Greetings from Cologne Andreas |

That sounds like bad advice unless they also gave very detailed instructions, especially as to the locations of the bus-stops, route-numbers, ticket offices, and exact details of where to disembark, and then how to get to the hotel from there. Even so, plenty of opportunity to get lost, accosted by beggars, get on the wrong bus, and so on (I assume you go through Termini). And it's a hell of long, up and down walk from FCO arrivals to the train station. Forget the cost, just take a taxi. Especially if arriving late. -- Bartc |

Just assuming the child is too young to require a ticket for the train and bus it will cost 2 adults €30 to take that route. But for 10 more euro you get a private car and driver with 'door to door' service. www.romeshuttlelimousine.com/FiumicinoE.htm Regards, Walter p.s. I tend to agree with the others, get a shuttle that will meet you at the door with a sign with your name. Least hassle, door to door, fixed price, no worries about luggage. Have a great trip! |

We took the train and bus in the end both ways. No problems of any sort in either direction We stayed in the Hotel Abruzzi it was very nice and perfectly positioned. Good price for where it is. http://www.hotelabruzzi.it/ -- Steve |
