Whats the Best Theatre in London? for Newbie Europe traveler

Hey you all,

It's me the newbie to Europe traveler with more questions.


I'd like to go to see a play or musical in London and want to know
what's the best theatre to visit if you could only visit one place.
Bear in mind this is for late March/Early April and the Globe Theatre
is not open for shows.

Should I go to Stratford? Should I stay in the London? Outside
London? What theatre do you recommend? I am partial to Shakespeare
or Marlowe, but I'm open to anything.

Stay in the centre of London, preferably within walking distance of
the sights you want to see. I recommend the hotels on Cartwright
Gardens (Euro Hotel, George Hotel, Avalon Hotel etc) as they are
inexpensive and clean and very centrally located (you can walk to the
west end in a few minutes).

As far as theatre goes I guess it all depends on what you want to see.
If shakespear is your thing then the Globe seems like an interesting

Yeah but as he pointed out the Globe isnt open
when he is there

The Gielgud Theatre in London have performances of
Alls Well that end well in March and April

There is half price ticket booth on southern side of leicester sq.

Well, I guess I'm the kinda person that would go to the theater
having the show I want. There is a website rating the different
seats in the London Theaters for quality and viewability but I
don't think that is exactly what you're asking. The theaters themselves
were never a particular draw for me. They're dark most of the time
and I don't look around much. A Cats, Starlight Express, or Phantom
tend to decorate the theater itself a bit more, but other than that,
I wouldn't pick one over the other based upon the theater.
