Default London theatre dress code

Deep Foiled Malls writes:

That goes for London in general. Londoners are not once to take
offence at lousy dress. There are too many antipodeans there that have
already lowered the tone.

Doesn't Harrod's still turn away those would-be customers it considers
improperly dressed?

"You can't do the food shopping at Harrods!"

"Of course you can! You don't expect people in Knightsbridge to eat out
_all_ the time!"

Covent Garden more so than ENO.

Yes, but I've worn a t-shirt (but no shorts or hiking boots!) at Covent
Garden too. As pointed out, it does get warm in opera houses.

It would need to be warm, naked from the waist down. Actually I
saw a production by Opera Factory in which the singers were all
nude.

We spent an afternoon there once and came to the conclusion that in
general that it was for people with more money than sense.

there are some things worth buying, the cheese is one. If they
have something you cant find elsewhere, then maybe pay the price.
I tend to prefer Harvey Nicks, Selfridges, a good Waitrose or
Borough Market.

The Rheinmaidens were nude in a recent Covent Garden production of Das
Rheingold, and Salome has been nude there before.
