Default GOLDEN PRINCESS

Hi All: I'm a newbie to this news group. My mother, myself & my son (13)
have booked onto the Golden Princess for June 27th, doing the Southern
Caribbean. Was wondering if anyone out there has taken this cruise and can
give me any information/tips. I've never been on a cruise before. We
booked an outside cabin on the Emerald deck.

One question I have is the price of drinks. I understand that we must even
pay for bottled water and pop.....is that true?? If so, approximately how
much are they?

We are all very excited and can't wait for the day to come.
Thanks for any information.....
Lori

At least in early April they had a buy unlimited cokes promotion that was
well worth the money. It was somewhere around $20 and I broke even about the
3rd day of 7. It is good everywhere except Princess Cays.

As you may know, except for some top-of-the-line cruise lines, all mainline
cruise lines charge for bottled water and carbonated beverages. Coffee,
tea, and sometimes fruit juices are typically available free, 24 hours per
day. The prices charged, while higher than what you would pay in a
supermarket, are fairly comparable to what you would pay elsewhere. Note
that the in-cabin bottled water price mentioned in another post is for a
very large (quart or liter sized bottle). Personally, I have found that the
"regular" water is quite acceptable, but folks feel differently.

I have been on the Golden Princess and I think you will like your Itinerary.

Actually, I outsmarted myself (easy or hard to do, depending on the
smartness differential between I and myself on any given day) on
Tortola, in January. As usual, I only brought a small bottle of water
from my stateroom, expecting to find much lower prices on the Island.
Went up to a bar as soon as we hit the beach and had to pay $4 for a
liter. Next time, I'll wait for those Rasta dudes to open their
ice-cream stand on the beach before purchasing water.
