Aachen, Liege or Maastricht
I have 4 nights to stay in Aachen, Liege and Maastricht. Which of these
is worth a 2 night stay? PS: Liege hotels are quite expensive. It seems at first glance to be the less touristy of these cities. Thanks Bruce |

Just take your pick, because these towns are quite similar in my opinion. Between Maastricht and Aachen, it's a 50 minutes bus ride, and buses are running twice an hour. So, pick either town (depending on a hotel you like from reviews or their website) and travel to the other town if desired. -- Low Countries By Bike - http://lowcountriesbybike.ardane.com Riding on two wheels in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany |

The Dutch are a bit more welcoming than the folks over in Aachen, and virtually all Dutchies speak excellent English. -- ------------------------------------------------------ * * * Mastering Independent Budget Travel * * * http://www.enjoy-europe.com/ ------------------------------------------------------ This email powered by Thunderbird. Thanks.
But I may try Liege -- sounds a gritty, blue collar place. I've visited lots of pretty Euro towns this year... Bruce |

Hi, Maastricht is the definite pick... though Liege isn't bad... -- "And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good." |

Average hotel not so expensive, excellent gourmetrestaurant but expensive..... |

I don't know--it might matter on time of day. We stayed in Aachen, and as evening falls on the huge central market square, it is an absolute delight. The historical sites from Charlamagne's time are also extraordinary. Doing Maastricht as a daytrip from Aachen was a bit dull in comparison--but maybe relaxing in the early evening Maastricht would have seemed just as enjoyable. Or maybe it depends on the beer... |
