Duty Free Liquor -"Cash & Carry"
Will be curious to see if in the next couple of weeks there is a
policy change in the on board duty free stores. I am wondering if sales will/have dropped due to transportation issues with getting liquor home now. You know sales are going to drop if people can't carry liquor off a ship and onto planes. With that will the policy change with "cash & carry" to increase revenue and sales on the ships? Duty Free Liquor sales is a huge portion of revenue for any line. I would imagine the cruise lines are already feeling the hit of slower sales....only 1 week after new TSA rules went into effect. Any thoughts or opinions? |

I had talked with some of the people working the store and they worked for a vendor and not the cruise line. It was their understanding that the cruise line didn't want that booze vendor competing with the bars for alcohol revenues. The on board purchases rules may stand and the store vendors will just suffer a little while we get this all sorted out. Of course, we may have it all wrong as it was a tasting party and they were VERY liberal with the samples! -- Ray Contreras =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Webmonkey for: http://www.ossystems.com http://www.bobs-garage.com http://www.clanwolverine.org http://www.rayzplace.com |

Ok, so if the liquor is sold by a vendor who puts the regulations in
place that it can only be pre-ordered (delivered on the final night)? And who gets the extra $10 "corkage fee" to purchase it and walk out with it (so many people in the past have posted they do this)? Sounds like a rule that is ok to break for the extra money? But not a hard fast rule. |
