Default Vatican Tours

I am interested in a tour of the Vatican museums and Sistine Chapel. The
Vatican's web site is a bit unclear about wait time, if any. Somebody told
me that an official Vatican tour goes right in, private tours wait along
with everybody. Can anybody clarify this?

Thank you.

I seem to recall that there is a special group entrance that admits
tours on a reserved-time basis, which may get you in without as
much standing in line, but leave you with less actual time inside. I
'spose that you are aware that you can go on your own? Just get
in line at least 30 to 60 minutes B4 it opens, or wait until an hour
after opening when there may be virtually no wait, either way.

My favorite Vatican memory is from a 1981 visit when we did a
"back lot" bus tour, and the driver played America rock music on
his radio. =R=

Yes. The official site has the info, however you must FAX the
reservation form.

It is a good cursory look at the Vatican with wireless headsets.
