DR safari?
Has anyone experienced any jeep safaris in the Dominican Republic like
the "Outback Safari" which is advertised on http://www.outbacksafari.com.do/ ? What is it like? Is it worth going on if I have a week of vacation in the DR? Thank you. |

We went on one of the safaris. It was a great time. loved the waterfall,
everyone taking the trip were really into it, had a great meal at a little restaurant in the back country (included in the cost of the trip). The operators brought a big bottle of rum and some coke (the drink, not the drug) and passed it around to all. It was fun, but be advised that it can be pretty boozy. wrote in message ups.com... Do you recall the name of the particular safari company you went with?
Was it "Outback Safari"? Was the waterfall you visited the one with "27 waterfall" levels that you slide down from? Where do you keep your valuables secure while swimming at the waterfall? Thanks, Greg BARBARA WILLIAMS wrote: We went on one of the safaris. We meant to go on the tour when we were there in Jan. 2003 but ended up
not going (had too much planned and wanted more beach days). We emailed the company a couple of times and spoke with them on the phone. They were very polite and very helpful. We even bought some beautiful safari hats from them. Others said they really enjoyed it. It is a bumpy ride though and some people did get "car sick". Now, I don't *think* that Outback Safari takes you to jump off the Damajagua Falls, but other jeep safaris do. So, please take care, especially if you have children with you. Be safe. Yikes! Thanks for the info at the link to Debbie's DR Travel board.
From what it says there, it sounds like Damajagua Falls is dangerous at any time. Or is it only dangerous during excessive rain? How safe are the tides at the beaches? I'm talking about the beaches not reserved for the resorts. I hear that a red flag indicates dangerous tides, but does that mean that a beach with no flags is probably safe? Peace, Greg So, please take care, especially if you have children with you. Be safe.
