Tassie's Zeehan & Queenstown panned as "ugly" by speeding scribbler for new magazine
(Herewith re-sent with the addition of rec.travel.australia+nz.)Tennis w
riter Suzi Petkovski probably didn't even give herself time to find a half-decent court in either Zeehan or Queenstown when she sped through (in her words she "floored it" through Zeehan) both "ugly" west-coast Tasmanian towns in March this year while skimming some shallow feelings from that world-famous region for her story headed "See it or flee it" in the suspicious first ("June 2005") edition of the Sydney-based monthly magazine _Australian Traveller_. Is she from the USA? She talks of Zeehan as having "trailer-park town planning", and of Queenstown as "a shoo-in" for Australia's "most butt-ugly town". The ostentatiously US-hack nature of her writing is a cert for some sort of award. Any ideas, anyone? Meanwhile, please give her a wide berth on the roads. She'll probably be passing through another intolerably ugly part of Australia. -- Arfur Moo |

A google search shows that her background is basically as a tennis specialist writer; she has been writing for Tennis Week, mainly about Oz players, since the late '90s. Cheers, Alan, Australia |
