Just to add a few ones:
Registan Square, Samarkand Jerusalem's Old City Ganges at Varanasi Kandy, Sri Lanka Those wonderful temples of Bangkok Halong Bay, Vietnam Petra, Jordan Palmira, Syria Frankly, if Taj Mahal did not capture your imagination, I don't understand how Koh Samui or Damnoen Saduak Market could do it. I liked all of them, but... Regards, D. "Alfred Molon" escribió en el mensaje ... Here is my list of very special places (feel free to add yours): Rice terraces (Bali) Jame'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah mosque (Brunei) Angkor Wat (Cambodia) and Bagan (Myanmar) if you're into temples Li river (when the sky is clear) and cormoran fishermen (China) Reed flute cave (China) Shanghai New Pudong district (China) Shanghai YuYuan area (China) Zhongdian and Xiao Zhongdian (China) Hong Kong skyline at night Jaipur (India) Jodhpur - view from the Meherangarh fort (India) Perhentian island (Malaysia) Mt Kinabalu peak at sunrise (Malaysia) Cameron highlands tea hills (Malaysia) Petronas towers (Malaysia) Lake Inle (Myanmar) Shwedagon padoda (Myanmar) Pokhara lake and Annapurna range (Nepal) Hindu temples in Singapore Arab street area in Singapore Area around Rai Leh beach (Thailand) Koh Samui (Thailand) Damnoen Saduak floating market (Thailand) And that's it more or less among the places I've seen. Koh Samui has never done it for me, unlike the very atmospheric Golden
Triangle area. "Dasmariñas" wrote in message ... "It simply can't compare with places like the pyramids in Giseh or St.
Peter's square in the Vatican." St. Peter's SQUARE??? As far as squares go, I would certainly rate the Grand Place in Brussels and St. Mark's Square in Venice higher. As far as incredible places in Rome, it doesn't compare to the Sistine Chapel, Colosseum, or Trevi Fountain. |

In article .com,
says... St. Peter's SQUARE??? As far as squares go, I would certainly rate the Grand Place in Brussels and St. Mark's Square in Venice higher. As far as incredible places in Rome, it doesn't compare to the Sistine Chapel, Colosseum, or Trevi Fountain. The places you mentioned are ok, except for St. Mark's square, which is overrated, and the Sistine chapel, which is *very* overrated. But this is obvioulsy also a matter of personal taste. -- Alfred Molon http://www.molon.de/Galleries.htm - Photos from China, Myanmar, Brunei, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Nepal, Egypt, Germany, Austria, Prague, Budapest, Singapore and Portugal |

Somehow nice, but too many tourists and not that special after all. I
might add that I've seen too many of those "perfect" places. I guessed so ... :/ Anyhoo, the 'too many tourist' argument is moot and arrogant ... remember you were one of them. |

Not as well travelled as a lot of the people here, but anyway:
Phuket: that bend from the montain towards Karon beach. Hong Kong: the road on the way to Po Lin on Lantau. Indonesia: My Grandma's village in Sumatra. OT but anyway (again): Melbourne: Skyhigh look out (at night)/road leading into the Prom/the twelve apostles (well eight now, or was it seven?) Sydney: Blue mountains/Kings cross Tasmania: Cataract Gorge/the whole bloody Island Adelaide: barrell in a disused bank valut. Ka. |
