Where to buy clothes in Thailand or India?
Hello:
I have to buy new fashionable suits, ties, shoes, glasses and a watch. As a student I do not have much money. Therefore I cannot buy new fashionable suits, shoes, ties etc. here in my country because it is very expensive and I need not just one suit, one pair of shoes etc., but several. I was thinking to make a short trip to India or Thailand in order to buy the suits, shoes, ties, glasses and watches cheaply. Where in India (or Thailand) can I buy them? Can you tell me exact location? Are they in the same quality like in Europe or North America? Where in Mumbai, Chennai or Goa can I find such shopping malls where I can buy fashionable suits and shoes in excellent quality? Please help me. Thanks. Regards, Haary |

You want them to look nice. But you're a student so you need to save money. Have I got this right? Sounds all normal to me. But then you say that you want to spend a nice chunk of money on a plane ticket so you can save a few dollars on clothes???????????? Perhaps you should first take a math class and then I think you'll be able to work it out by yourself. |

Maybe he lives in Myanmar or Laos, and can travel across the border by bus or boat? To the OP: If yer looking for cheap, high quality suits, I'd recommend you visit Hoi An in Vietnam instead. You can get quality suits for a quarter the price of what you would pay in Thailand. But make sure you stock up on a sufficient amount of clothes to warrant the travelling distance. -- "I hear ma train a comin' .... hear freedom comin" |

Mumbai, India is excellent for clothes, shoes etc. The main streets around
The Gateway area are good hunting grounds for department stores. Only problem though can be finding clothes that fit if you are a six foot tall Westerner with big feet as the average size in Asia is obviously smaller. As a person with UK size 11 feet, I was not able to find a pair of shoes to fit me. "haary" wrote in message ups.com... Hello: I have to buy new fashionable suits, ties, shoes, glasses and a watch. Don't bother about my math skills or how much or whether I would have
to pay a lot for a ticket, Tchiowa. I am going to graduate from college next months, therefore I need to buy suits, ties etc. Just focus on my question regarding where I can buy suits etc. cheaply. Thanks, Stimp. I have heard that labour costs are much lower in Vietnam. When I make a trip to Bangkok, I could visit Hoi An in Vietnam. Are these quality suits from Hugo Boss and other big names? As I am regarding my trip as holiday travelling to the destination is okay for me. @ Andrew T. Austin: I am 6"2 tall, but so are many Indians. When I made some research about prices on ebay.in and other Indian websites I have noticed that prices are the same like in USA or Europe. How is that possiblle? I am also looking for a nice watch. I have heard that in Shanghai/China I can buy $20.000 Rolex for just $20 and that the quality would be almost the same. Can I buy such watches in India or Thailand, too? |

I dono about Thailand (Im due to go there soon) but I know in India it is cheaper to get clothes tailor made for you. Custom fitting ensures that you'll look good in them. I know a number of people who fly over to these types of countries and get a new set of suits etc every year. my advise would be to get them made for you rather than buying them as they will be very cheap and you can specify exactly what you want. Iv heard about casual clothes being cheap in Thailand but not about formal stuff specifically if you do find out let me know where. |

Are these quality suits from Hugo Boss and other big names? well they're made in Hoi An, like, so they're not the same ones that are shipped to Milan, etc (or maybe they are come to think of it). But, yeah, you can get an exact replica of pretty much any suit you like. And in the highest quality kashmir or cotton. If you bring along a photo of a suit you would like to copy, they can copy it for you in a few hours. My experience was that I was sat down at a table and the latest Armani catalogue was placed in front of me. I selected two suits that I liked, in kashmir wool, and within 1 day I had them finished. 30 US dollars each. Nice. I am also looking for a nice watch. I have heard that in Shanghai/China I can buy $20.000 Rolex for just $20 and that the quality would be almost the same. Can I buy such watches in India or Thailand, too? I know you can get fake watches in Dubai (well you USED to), but the quality is atrocious. -- "I hear ma train a comin' .... hear freedom comin" |

There are lots and lots of shops selling a mix of genuine and look alike time pieces. Buy only the genuine ones - you will save *some* money, but not a great deal, but you will get the quality. |

Hi,
I am also looking for a nice watch. I have heard that in Shanghai/China I can buy $20.000 Rolex for just $20 and that the quality would be almost the same. Can I buy such watches in India or Thailand, too? Are you serious? How can a fake Rolex be the same quality as the original? Most of those that you can buy in Thailand don't even look like one (that is, if you know what a Rolex looks like). If you want to impress anyone, forget it. If you're looking for a nice, suitable watch that might or might not keep for a while - a fake is more like 4 USD, not 20. Of course, the whole thing is illegal. :-) Ralph -- For contact details, please see www.ralphholz.de. |
