We are talking about railroads not highways! England's Great Western Railway was doing more or less that in 1906. shut off steam.) However, this is a big and complex subject and not really appropriate for a travel newsgroup. Is there a news group where such things are discussed? I scanned alt.railroad but did not see any discussion. Grepping my newsrc I get: alt.railroad.steam: alt.railroad: bit.listserv.railroad: alt.models.railroad.n: rec.models.railroad: for just railroad. Likely others. Your troll for discussion and answers, you don't sit back and passively wait for data to come to you. On the switching, it's likely being discussed on comp.risks. Interesting, thanks! However, toy and historic railroad groups hardly seemed places for a discussion of the real world. Lurking is often the best way to see if regular users are interested before asking questions Like Woodruff, I should have grepped 'rail' and separate out (-n) model, etc. Lurking is useful as well as doing one's home work. A lot of both computers and real rails go back to places like the MIT Model Railroad Club. -- |
