Look for recommendation for campground in Maine

Hi,

Can someone give some recommendations for a nice tent campground
in Maine? Nice means quite, a lot of space between the tent places
and if possible on the coastline or in the forest.

Can you narrow it down a bit? Maine is a big state with tons of
campgrounds.
Any specific areas you plan to be in? Any things you need or want in a
campground? How much space do you consider "a lot" between campsites?

Along the coast, Camden Hills SP (just outside of Camden at Mt.
Battie) has a nice State Park campground with clean showers. Acadia
has typical National Park camping.

We plan to go to Midcoast, maybe Acadia and Moosehead Lake. The
campground doesn't have to have any special requirements beside
clean showers and restrooms. To give an example: I stayed in 2000
at Barcadia Campground near Bar Harbor. This campground was o.k.:
clean, quiet and located near the water.

I'm from Europe which means that campgrounds often "squeeze" the
tent places in one corner to get space for trailers. So you have
your neighbour tent sometimes in a distance of 1-2 yards. I'd
prefer 25 yards or more. Campgrounds in New Hampshire and Vermont
where I've stayed in 2000 fit in that category (50+ yards space
and trees between the tent sites).

There are two well-known campground directories in the US that include
statistics such as the size of tent sites and whether they are shaded.
One is called Woodalls, but the name of the other escapes me. If you get
one of these guides, you can find a campground wherever you happen to
be.
