Roundtrip by motorhome in Nova Scotia
Hi y´all,
i´ll be touring Nova Scotia/Cape Breton Island, maybe Prince Edward Island for 3 weeks from mid september, starting from Halifax. - So, is there a recommended travelling direction (i.e. Cape Breton first considering the time of the year? - Is it possible to tour all three places comfortably within 3 weeks? - Recommendable camping-sites, camping-sites to be avoided? Any hints, suggestions and recommmendations are welcome. Juergen |

Particularly if you're in a motor home, go around Cape Breton (or at least the Cabot Trail) in a clockwise direction. If you go around anticlockwise, you'll be on the seaward side, which could lead to vertigo: http://www.northeasthighlands.com/todo/cbh.htm If your trip will leave you there through early October and you like Celtic music, check into Celtic Colours, which takes place at venues all over Cape Breton. It starts 5 October: http://www.celtic-colours.com/core.php One place I particularly like is the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site in Baddeck: http://www.pc.gc.ca/lhn-nhs/ns/grahambell/index_e.asp - Is it possible to tour all three places comfortably within 3 weeks? It's doable, depending on what you want to visit, but it's tight. What do you like to do? Where would you like to visit? - Recommendable camping-sites, camping-sites to be avoided? Any hints, suggestions and recommmendations are welcome. The provincial travel offices, which are scattered around the province, are extremely helpful. In addition to the usual brochures, etc, they have good maps, and they'll call ahead and book accomodations for you. Request the Doers & Dreamers travel guide from the province; it's worthwhile: http://novascotia.com/en/home/planatrip/travel_guides/ -- Joe Makowiec http://makowiec.org/ Email: http://makowiec.org/contact/?Joe |

Go anticlockwise, so you'll be on the view side. which could lead to vertigo...
