I often wonder, with customers like you and your co-worker, why would
anyone want to own a restaurant?

i wonder why any restaurant owner would NOT split tickets, or
insist on one ticket per table. it's called customer service,
which keeps customers. restaurants count on repeat business, and
single folks eat out more than anyone. duh.

Laziness & sloth, bad IT support, lack of imagination? Lots of
potential excuses.

We hae a group that goes out to eat after church on Sundays and
we always ask for separate checks. One of our favored restaurants
was La Parilla Suiza but one Sunday they anounced they don't
split checks, although they always had. We haven't returned.

I got the impression that the orders went into the kitchen as one
list and then the waiter had to split it up afterward. When the
restaurant was very crowded they didn't want to take the time to
do that. And I think it was something of a mental challenge for
some of the waiters.
