Default Event-dresscode "no timberlands"

Hi!

It might be a strange question, but being new to the US, i came upon
an event, music for about 20-30years-old, where the dresscode states
"casual, no timberlands".

What is meant here, since timberland seems to me as a brand making
various kinds of cloths or shoes. Does it mean the type of timberland,
or is timberland some special brand in any kind?

HC

Timberland's signature product is hiking boots, some of which have been
adopted as casual wear by people of a certain age and subculture. Kinda like
Speedo, which makes all kinds of swimwear and accessories but has become a
generic term for a particular style of men's brief.
