Default 1/2 day trip from Anchorage

We will be renting a car at about noon at Anchorage International and
will be returning it at about 8 pm that evening. Looking for
suggestions for the most scenic car trip we can take given those
limitations.

Thank you for your help.

Either up to Eagle River area, or down towards Kenai. Maybe a jet boat ride
up Twenty Mile river. http://www.glacierjetalaska.com/

I'll second the "towards Kenai" thought. It's been a very long time since
I bicycle camped through the area, but driving to Portage Glacier (or maybe
skipping Portage and going to Moose Pass or Hope, time permitting) would be
spectacular. Expect traffic slow downs, etc. I'd suggest skipping the
Alyeska resort side trip.

Flight see around Denali or other part of the Alaska Range.
You can't see much from a car.
