Your favorite travel gear

I am interested to learn what is your favorite, essential travel gear?
You know, the one item you can not leave home without?

1) My own travel alarm clock. I don't want to try to figure out the
clock radio the hotel provides, plus the maids keep changing the radio
stations to play while they work, and the previous occupant reversed
am and pm, etc. I just unplug the thing.

2) hard or soft bound log/journal book. Record everything in order
as they occur -- Trying to get away from all those separate slips of
paper. Envelope taped i back cover to hold receipts. Pages can be
sliced out later if I write notes, memos, etc.

3) If taking laptop computer, movie dvd's and music cd's. Hotel
cable? enuff said.

4) Kit with paring knife, fork, spoon, swiss knife with corkscrew and
botle/can opener -- for those restaurant doggie bags , and when I pick
up fruit, cheese, whatever in local stores.

Oh yes--last trip I managed to not pack underwear. Will have to bring
some next time. ;-Q
