And you believe that too. Why can't someone ask some questions to a
place they are traveling to? I've been all over, except Austalia and
New Zealand and I just have some questions. Really. To think that I'm
not sincere says a lot about those that doubt. I won't go into what
"alot" means. You probably wouldn't understand.

Default Rental Price of a Cottage on the Gold Coast?

Alan,
Thank you for the link. There is only one property listed but I can see
the pricing is substantially less than the Gold Coast. Are there any
other economical places south of here or north on the coast? I need a
lot of good restraurants (and supermarkets!) and the area should be low
crime. Thanks.

This is what you'll get at my local agent for the Tweed
Coast:

Click on "Holiday Accommodation", then use their search.
Mine is Loralei in Pottsville (just so you can see what this
town is like), but it's not available at that time and I'm
not looking for bookings at the moment. If you do come near
here - send me an email and we'll get together to say
g'day:-)

Major agents in the district, including the Gold Coast, a

Remember, the rates are different for permanent and holiday
rentals - send them an email and specify your needs.

If you are commencing after the first week of February the
rates will be lower because the school holiday season will
be over. Consequently, a full month may allow you some good
bargaining power.

That's because you are asking/searching for stuff that it so
broad as to be non existent.

The concept of a "cottage by the sea" isn't feasible within
some miles of the coast in the Gold Coast region, and
probably on most of the eastern seaboard of Australia.

This is because a block of beachfront land, of say 700+
square metres is probably worth A$1Million or more. Annual
taxes, which we call rates here, would be prohibitive for a
single rental dwelling, albeit a "luxury rental". Around
places like Byron Bay (Suffolk Park) an off season rental of
a beach house would be from about $A2000 up per week.

If you are in a town small enough to offer a cottage by the
sea, at much less cost than above, you can almost be assured
there won't be a suitable supermarket close by. And there
will be nothing to do, unlike places like the Gold Coast
which is tourist oriented.

If you can tell us a bit more about you and what you want to
do, maybe even why, and when, people will help with
suggestions.

http://www.csu.edu.au/australia/ has lots of information
about Australia and I recommend it to you.

Try this link for luxury homes at Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. The prices
may be much higher than you anticipate though for the reasons other posters
have explained.

Noosa has more restaurants than nights you'll be staying. The supermarket is
also pretty good.

I beg to differ here. Information on Australia is incredibly easy to find on
the net. For example, the link I posted in my other message in this thread
was obtained by doing a google search on 'house holiday rental Noosa'.

Of course, I knew beforehand that Noosa was on the Sunshine Coast. This is
where I agree with Frank that you need to engage in better research first.
Lonely Planet guides or books of that ilk are an excellent starting point
for general information. The following link is also fairly informative
http://www.queenslandholidays.com.au/

You've never said where you're from. But I'm assuming it's not the
sub-tropics so a word of caution: SE Queensland in February will be hot, at
times unbearably humid even overnight, and probably quite wet. When
searching for your luxury accommodation, make air conditioning a priority.

May I make the sincere suggestion you pick up a couple guidebooks on
Australia and read them before you go? My suspicion is that you will miss
out on a whole helluvalot and meander like the proverbial headless chicken
unless you do so, based upon your queries to date.

And you might end up at the wicked witch's cottage with Hansel and Gretel in
your search for chocolate-covered accommodation. Leave a trail of
breadcrumbs (on the left side of the road, mind you)

What would be a good price per week for a month's rental of a small
luxury cottage on the Gold Coast for the month of February? Would $500
per week be a good price?
